Latest articles concerning Business Rates

Roderick Bisset

About me

In the dark days of the 1987 crash and the ensuing recession, as a young graduate from Leicester, I found employment as a graduate surveyor with Edwin Hill & Partners in Fitzroy Square, W1.Very few people knew anything about modern business rates after the reforms created by the 1988 Local Government Finance Act.  The Statutory Instruments, the landmark legal cases were just starting and I was fortunate enough to see and study it from the beginning.

Roll on some 7 years and I, with two of my co-partners, set up a boutique rating practice in Gatwick & Heathrow – Bisset Moffatt Hill.  We served our clients for 19 years before selling the practice to Vail Williams LLP in 2016.

I am based in London and Winchester.

I visit clients at their properties from Bristol to Penzance all the way over to Essex and Kent.  I tend to organise these visits as “parishional rounds”.
